Mandera Town Member of Parliament (MP) Hussein Weytan was carried shoulder-high after disembarking from his car because of citing no to the Finance Bill 2024.

Which MPs from Mandera voted no to Finance bill?

The Finance Bill 2024 contained some contentious clauses, and netizens expressed their displeasure with it by hitting the streets, causing President William Ruto to withdraw it.

Since then, some MPs have been going home to a hero's welcome while others have started issuing apologies for yes to the document.

When Weytan arrived home, his car door was opened for him, and he did not even set foot on the ground as he was carried high; people ululated and sang for him, with others thanking him for taking care of their interests.

"The only MP from Mandera County who voted no. He was welcomed this way in his constituency!" said Azimio TV.

How each MP voted for Finance Bill 2024

Another story revealed that government-leaning MPs leveraged their numbers to sail the Finance Bill 2024 to its third reading.

A total of 204 lawmakers voted in favour of the condemned bill, with the opposition's 115 flunking in their bid to shoot it down.

The Finance and Planning Committee furnished the House with the final report of the bill carrying the proposed amendments, ahead of the final vote and President William Ruto's assent.
