Liverpool news: Reds slammed for Mohamed Salah decision as Jurgen Klopp finds replacement

Liverpool have been slammed for their “unacceptable” decision to let star man Mohamed Salah enter the final year of his contract.

The Egypt international’s current deal at Anfield runs out next summer, and with fellow forward Sadio Mane having been in a similar position the club decided to cash in now rather than risk losing him for nothing in a year’s time. And talkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara has gone in on the Reds over their handling of Salah’s situation.

It comes as Jurgen Klopp may have identified Mane’s big-game replacement after the Senegal star sealed his move to Bayern Munich. And Liverpool will have to break their club-record transfer fee in order to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham next summer.

Salah stance slammed

Jamie O’Hara has slammed Liverpool the situation surrounding Mohamed Salah’s contract at the club.

An agreement is yet to be struck with Salah and his representatives to extend his stay at Anfield, with the player reportedly seeking a bumper pay rise in order to sign. It means the Reds forward could end up leaving the club for nothing when his current deal comes to an end in a year’s time – something O’Hara has said would be “unacceptable”.

And the talkSPORT pundit says Salah “cannot leave that football club on a free”.

Klopp finds Mane’s big-game replacement

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp may have already found his big-game replacement for Sadio Mane.

The forward sealed his move to Bayern Munich earlier this month in a £35.1million deal, with the Reds bringing in Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez to replace him within Klopp’s squad. But despite costing the Anfield club a whopping £80million, the forward will have a lot of work to do in order to convince his new manager he can rely on him when the pressure is on.

And Klopp’s use of Diogo Jota last season may already suggest who Klopp could turn to for the big games.

Bellingham price set

Liverpool have been told they will have to break their club record for a transfer fee in order to sign Jude Bellingham next summer.

The England midfielder has long been linked with a move to Anfield, although his current club Borussia Dortmund have said they won’t sell him this summer having already parted ways with Erling Haaland. It means anyone wanting to sign Bellingham will have to wait until next year, with the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United also thought to be interested in him.

And reports coming out of Germany suggest the player may be available should a mammoth bid of around £104million come in for the young star.
