Customers lined up outside the Deer Park business on Friday said they were counting on catered Thanksgiving meals but Maddhouse Catering failed to deliver.
Some Houston families say a local business left them empty-handed on Thanksgiving after they paid for catered meals but got empty promises and empty plates instead.
Customers said they paid Maddhouse Catering hundreds of dollars in advance and now they’re mad that the Deer Park business failed to deliver.
“It was ruined. We had each other, but we had no fried turkey,” Susan Bramblett told us.
Albert Fernandez said it happened to him too.
“At the last minute, we had to scramble,” Fernandez said. “We had to go to Kroger to get chickens thighs, legs, something.”
They’re just two of several families sounding off on social media against the Deer Park business that’s run out of a garage.
Video from Thanksgiving Day shows customers outside the house demanding answers. More customers showed up on Friday.
“We were supposed to get two turkeys, a ham, four sides and two pies,” Jeff said. “When we showed up, he said we could have nothing but a turkey and it wasn’t even cooked.”
On Maddhouse Catering’s Facebook page, the last post on Wednesday night said, “Everyone please let me have a chance to respond.”
When we called the number on their Facebook page, nobody answered. There was no answer at the home either.
Some families say the catering company told them their oven caught fire. We didn’t see any signs of a fire — just fired up customers.
“All we want to know is where’s the money,” Jeff told us. “I’ll eat this grass before I order from Maddhouse Catering, I’m sorry.”
“This needs to stop he needs to go out of business,” Susan said.
Some are calling on the Deer Park Police Department to investigate.
One customer said they’ve already filed a police report. We reached out to DPPD to see if they’re investigating and are waiting to hear back.
Meanwhile, Maddhouse Catering is advertising Christmas dinner specials for $250.
