ESPN’s Field Yates has Colts Anthony Richardson as Top 3 Fantasy QB for 2024 campaign
According to ESPN’s Field Yates, Indianapolis Colts 2nd-year quarterback Anthony Richardson is a projected Top 3 fantasy quarterback headed into the 2024 campaign:
Yeah, take that C.J. Stroud fans!
In all seriousness, since this is purely for fantasy football purposes, where rushing quarterbacks like Richardson are king and more valuable for racking up scoring points, and it simply makes sense. Let’s not get quite carried away here otherwise.
In limited action in his rookie season with 4 starts (*before he was shut down with a season-ending shoulder injury), Richardson amassed 4 rushing touchdowns to go along with his 3 passing touchdowns, meaning there was quite an extra scoring output there for the uber-athletic dual-threat passer.
If fully healthy through 17 games, it’s not very far-fetched that Richardson could finish the 2024 regular season as one of the truly elite fantasy quarterbacks—especially with another offseason and training camp within head coach Shane Steichen’s versatile offense.
Further, while they were limited to 2 total snaps together in 2023 because of injuries, it should be pure popcorn fun at the movies to see how the electric RPO game takes off with both Richardson and star workhorse Jonathan Taylor behind center.
While I’m not sure I would draft him as the 3rd best fantasy quarterback over say Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, or Joe Burrow (unless it’s a keeper league), I do think there’s a lot of value there once you get outside those 1st five quarterbacks or so regarding Richardson.
