‘Somebody Somewhere’ Star Murray Hill Is Developing A Campy Detective Show Called ‘Shorty Big Time’

Murray Hill wants to bring a little fun and camp to a gumshoe series.

The actor who plays Fred Rococo on HBO’s comedy Somebody Somewhere told the New York Times that he is developing a detective show called Shorty Big Time. In fact, he’s currently scouting locations in Palm Springs for the project, which still needs a buyer.

“Now that I have some outside validation,” Murray continued, “I feel like it’s my duty and my obligation to do this show and get it made. You know, RuPaul is the mother, and I’m the father. People are starting to catch up. The only problem is, I’m getting older!”

Somebody Somewhere has already been renewed for a third season. But that’s not the only joint Hill has going these days; he also has a role in Jackpot, an upcoming film by Paul Feig. He also recently performed in the Netflix Is a Joke festival last month and did a stint on Life & Beth.

“I’m kind of like a used-car salesman,” Hill told the NYT of his now beloved persona. “Jackie Gleason. Archie Bunker. Your drunk uncle at Thanksgiving dinner. Which happens to be all my Italian relatives. But I switch gender. So I became the subject I wanted to see.”
