JLR to Use China’s Chery Exeed Platforms in Future EVS, Here's What Report Says

The Tata owned-Jaguar Land Rover is gearing up to contribute in the EV segment. The company is all set to introduce battery-powered models soon. It has been reported that the brand might use China’s Chery Group-owned Exeed platform called M3X and E0X platforms for the upcoming models.

The news has been confirmed by the Chery Group president Yin Tongyao. He revealed that the joint venture between JLR  and Chery Group-owned Exeed has been extended. Now, the brand has the right to use both platforms freely.

Expected EV Models

Some reports also suggested that the JLR use the above-mentioned platforms for the upcoming EVs, which might arrive under the Range Rover, Discovery, and Defender umbrella. However, the brand is yet to share the official details about the same.

All About M3X Platform

Talking M3X platform, it is locally known as T2X. It has been released to support both traditional ICE models and PHEV (Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle) powertrains options.

The platform has been considered a ‘Super Hybrid’, which has been used in Chery’s few cars. The list includes Exeed RX PHEV, Chery Fulwin T9 and others.

Capabilities

The report says it is capable of handling 11 gear combinations, achieving nine operating modes over the 1000-km range, and offers a thermal efficiency of 44.5 percent.

Meanwhile, the JLR has wide fleet in the Indian market, offering multiple options to the customers to choose from. The list includes Range Rover Evoque, Discovery Sport, new Discovery, 2024 Defender, Range Rover Velar and Discovery, and Range Rover Sport.
