Nothing OS 3.0 with lock screen customisation to launch in September, CEO confirms
Just after a few days of revealing the delay of Nothing Phone 3, the CEO revealed a sneak peek of the new OS. Carl Pei, CEO of Nothing, took to X to unveil the first look of Nothing OS 3.0. In the post, Pei shared a few images of the new OS revealing one of the upcoming features in Nothing OS 3.0.Â
Nothing OS 3.0 will have a new Lock Screen customisation feature. The post made it evident that the company is working to revamp the Lock Screen interface by adding more functionalities and features. The images show that the users will be able to choose from three options to personalise their Lock Screen style.Â

Over and above, he also confirmed that Nothing OS 3.0 will be announced in September 2024.Â
Nothing OS 3.0: Customised Lock ScreenÂ
Nothing OS 3.0 might offer other styles as well, but Pei has teased only three, Default, Clock+Widgets, and Expanded Widget Area. The default option is the standard clock, date and day style, whereas the clock+widget style will bring more features to the table. This option changes the font of the displayed time. In the images by Pei, the style shows the clock in dotted font along with a weather widget, contact widget and a shortcut to quick action. Quick action might let you add more to the Lock Screen.Â

The third option, expanded widget area, is an expanded version of the clock+widget type style with larger tiles. In the image posted by Pei, this style has both analogue and digital clocks on the display along with an expanded widget for time and day. In this style, users can add more to the Lock Screen.Â
Interactive dotÂ
Apart from Lock Screen customisation, he also shared some technicalities behind the upcoming interactive dot animations on the OS. This dot might also be used on the Quick settings panel. Pei posted an image which shows that the dot will have three layers. Input image layer, the live interaction layer, and the final output layer, making it more interactive.Â

A week ago, Pei posted an extensive post indicating the upcoming flagship, Nothing Phone 3 will be launched in 2025. He suggested that AI will be deeply integrated with the operating system of the Nothing Phone 3 to deliver a personalised user experience.Â
The company also teased a bit about the UI of the Nothing Phone 3 with the initial AI feature that might feature in the device.Â
