Qatar airways was announced as the best airline in the world followed by Singapore airlines in second and Emirates in the third position.

Notably, seven African airlines were featured on the list, with Ethiopia Airlines being the best in Africa, coming at number 36 globally.

Ethiopian Airlines

In 2024, Ethiopian Airlines was ranked 36th in the world, down from 35 in the 2023 rankings.

Royal Air Maroc

Royal Air Maroc, Morocco's flag carrier, was ranked 55th in 2024, a drop from 53 in 2023.

South African Airways

South African Airways, South Africa's national airline, ranked 69th in 2024, an improvement from 72nd in 2023.

Kenya Airways

Kenya Airways, also known as the Pride of Africa, was ranked 77th in 2024, down from 73 in 2023.

RwandAir

RwandAir, Rwanda's national airline, secured the 81st spot in the 2024 rankings, an improvement from 90 in 2023.

Air Mauritius

Air Mauritius, the flag carrier of Mauritius, ranked 85th in 2024, a drop from 78th in 2023.

Egyptair

Egyptair, Egypt's national airline and one of the oldest airlines in Africa was ranked 88th in 2024, an improvement from 110 in 2023.

AirAsia introduces direct flights from Nairobi to Malysia

In other related news, AirAsia X has announced the launch of direct flights between Nairobi, Kenya, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, starting on November 15, 2024.

The new route marks AirAsia X's first expansion into Africa, providing the first direct connection between Nairobi and Kuala Lumpur by a low-cost carrier.

Travellers can book flights from Nairobi to Kuala Lumpur with fares starting at KSh 18,899 (USD 135) for economy seats and KSh 69,699 (USD 499) for premium flatbeds.
