The Linc - NFL roster rankings have the Eagles in 10th place

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

Ranking 2024 NFL rosters: Best projected starting lineups - ESPN+

10. Philadelphia Eagles. Biggest strength: Offensive tackle. The Eagles have arguably the league’s best tackle duo, with Jordan Mailata manning the left side and Lane Johnson on the right side. Mailata ranked among the top tackles in pass block win rate and run block win rate in 2023. Johnson is now 34 years old, but he was his usual elite self in 2023, which included the best run block win rate among starting tackles. Biggest weakness: Off-ball linebacker. This is simply not a priority position for general manager Howie Roseman. A year after struggling to find players to hold down the fort, the Eagles’ offseason investments included Devin White, journeyman Oren Burks and a fifth-round flier on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. A former first-round pick, White played a ton of snaps in five seasons with Tampa Bay but struggled badly against the run. The team will hope to get the most out of White and a healthy season from 2022 third-rounder Nakobe Dean would also provide a boost. [BLG Note: The Eagles rank fourth in the NFC and second in the NFC East.]

Eagles announce two Kelly Green jersey games for 2024 - BGN

A rare news development (if you’ll consider it that) during the NFL’s dead zone: the Philadelphia Eagles officially announced when they’ll be wearing their Kelly Green alternate uniforms during the 2024 season.

Eagles power ranking roundup: Summer doldrums edition - PhillyVoice

#JimmySays: “Elite” is a bit of a stretch, in my opinion. There’s an argument to be made that the roster got worse from 2023 to 2024, at least on paper.

Jason Kelce surprised a 13-year-old Eagles fan at the Eras Tour in London: ‘It felt like a Rocky moment’ - Inquirer

Barry Walker and his 13-year-old son, Aiden, have been Eagles fans for years, but living in Leeds, England, they never imagined they’d have the opportunity to meet an Eagle in-person. That all changed on Saturday, when the Walker family traveled to London to attend Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. Barry and Aiden didn’t even go to the concert — but ended up with the experience of a lifetime, thanks to Jason Kelce.

Eagles CB Darius Slay believes Browns WR Amari Cooper is ‘most underappreciated receiver in the league’ - NFL.com

If Amari Cooper believes an endorsement will help him secure the contract extension he’s aiming for, he received one from a perennial Pro Bowl cornerback. Philadelphia Eagles corner Darius Slay lauded the Cleveland Browns veteran as the most unsung wide receiver in the NFL. “I really be thinking he’s the most underappreciated receiver in the league,” Slay said on the Green Light with Chris Long podcast.

A key newcomer on list of most important Eagles in 2024 - NBCSP

During his five-year career with the Buccaneers, White started 75 games and piled up 566 tackles, 64 quarterbacks hits, 23 sacks and 40 TFLs. He showed an ability to blitz as an off-ball linebacker and said this spring he’s looking forward to showing Fangio he can do that. He’d like to have those chances to get after quarterbacks in this defense. While you should probably take the ProFootballFocus grades with a grain of salt, White last season ranked 80th out of 82 qualified off-ball linebackers with an overall grade of 47.4. He’s looking at his one-year deal with the Eagles as an opportunity to show that last season isn’t representative of who he really is as a player. The Eagles hope he’s able to do that.

Cowboys still being pushed to kick the tires on veteran RBs like Dalvin Cook - Blogging The Boys

The Cowboys are known for giving one-year, low-risk type of deals. So, if that’s the going rate for Cook, that’s on board with their philosophy. This isn’t a knock to Elliott, who still has a little something in the tank, and Dowdle has shown some flashes here and there. That being said, Elliott is coming off career lows in rushing yards and yards per attempt, and Dowdle has had injury issues. The Cowboys did sign veteran Royce Freeman, and his experience and skills could add something to the roster. Deuce Vaughn, Hunter Luepke, Malik Davis, Snoop Connor, and the aforementioned Peat round out the room, which leaves much to be desired. Cook only had 67 carries for 214 yards last season for the New York Jets, and that was because Breece Hall garnered the lion’s share of the snaps. After parting ways with the Jets, Cook signed with the Baltimore Ravens for the playoffs, but he only gained 23 yards on eight carries. Dallas had some interest in Cook back in January, and he was linked to them in March when free agency kicked off. If the Cowboys do inquire about Cook, it will likely be during training camp.

Is Kayvon Thibodeaux poised to break out? - Big Blue View

Bowen’s scheme won’t often send extra unblocked rushers and will instead rely on Thibodeaux, Burns, and Lawrence to create pressure. Meanwhile, dropping seven defenders into coverage should — at least in theory — help keep the ball in quarterbacks’ hands long enough for the pass rushers to get home. The ingredients are all there for a breakout season from Thibodeaux: His own personal development, other threats around him, and a new scheme which (should) give him more opportunities to shine. He might not see a big statistical bump — 11.5 sacks is still a good season, I don’t care what PFF says. However, being a more consistent presence in opponents’ backfield could constitute a “breakout” year and make Thibodeaux the next great Giants’ pass rusher. It’d be fitting if that happened in the team’s 100th anniversary.

Why NFL fans still have to wait regarding the ‘Sunday Ticket’ lawsuit - SB Nation

A jury in federal court in California decided on Thursday that the NFL and its member teams violated federal antitrust laws with the “Sunday Ticket” package. Following Thursday’s historic jury verdict against the NFL and its member teams — that could have the league on the hook for over $14 billion in damages to plaintiffs, including individual fans and commercial establishments who bought “Sunday Ticket” — many are wondering when individual team packages could hit the airwaves, as well as when they might see a check. To quote the great Lee Corso, “not so fast my friend.” Keeping this in football terms, the verdict is akin to the league getting sacked for a huge loss. You might even say they are facing third and long. But they might not be punting anytime soon, and we are in the first quarter of a game that likely comes down to the final play. And maybe even overtime.
