VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Canucks have signed a trio of free agents, including former Boston Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk.

The team announced the deals as the NHL's free agency period opened Monday, saying DeBrusk has inked a seven-year contract that carries an annual-average value of US$5.5 million.

The 27-year-old left-winger had 40 points (19 goals, 21 assists) in 80 games for the Bruins last season, then chipped in another five goals and six helpers in 13 playoff appearances.

Originally picked 14th overall by Boston in the 2015 draft, the six-foot-one, 198-pound forward has spent all seven seasons of his NHL career with the Bruins, putting up 138 goals and 128 assists across 465 regular-season games.

DeBrusk is the son of former NHLer and current hockey analyst Louie DeBrusk.

Vancouver also signed forwards Danton Heinen and Keifer Sherwood, and defenceman Derek Forbort on Monday.

Heinen, a 28-year-old old winger from Langley, B.C., joins the Canucks on a two-year deal with a $2.25-million AAV.

The six-foot-two, 195-pound athlete spent last season with the Bruins, contributing 17 goals and 19 assists across 74 regular-season games.

The Canucks signed Sherwood, a 28-year-old winger, to a two-year contract with a $1.5-million AAV.

The six-foot, 194-pound native of Columbus, Ohio, had 10 goals and 17 assists in 68 games for the Nashville Predators last season.

Forbort comes to Vancouver on a one-year, $1.5-million deal.

The 32-year-old defenceman played three seasons with Boston and contributed four assists in 35 games last season.

The Canucks made another series of signings ahead of free agency, inking pending unrestricted free agents Tyler Myers, Dakota Joshua and Teddy Blueger to new deals.
