The Pat McAfee Show will be off the air for a period of two weeks - beginning this week.

ESPN announced the hiatus for the largely popular show due to ongoing coverage of the Wimbledon tennis championships.

The company also announced that the program  - er, 'progrum' - would be back on Monday, July 15.

McAfee has proven to be somewhat of a polarizing presence since jumping ship to ESPN, but his three-hour long show has been incredibly popular and the cast has proven to be incredibly hard working.

The host even showed that himself when he was on the air a day after his father-in-law suddenly passed away after fighting an infection at an Indianapolis hospital.

A break might just be what McAfee needs - considering he essentially works all the time with his additional appearances on WWE Monday Night Raw, as well as his role on College GameDay.

It also comes at a time where there's a slowdown in the American sports calendar - with the NBA and NHL playoffs recently wrapped up and NFL training camp weeks away from starting back up.

While popular and a digital boost for ESPN, the linear gains have not been as impressive.

Additionally, the show has been responsible for a number of controversies - including when guest Aaron Rodgers was 'suggesting' Jimmy Kimmel might be on the Epstein list and when McAfee himself seemed to be openly feuding with Stephen A. Smith as well as other ESPN bosses.

In a Q&A with The Athletic last week, ESPN's content president, Burke Magnus, admitted that the network's working relationship with McAfee is complicated.

When asked about the Rodgers situation, Magnus said, 'He’s technically not an ESPN employee, which limits sort of the conventional paths we have in circumstances like that.

'We do license his show, which he fully produces and controls entirely. But … it is our platform at the end of the day. That’s the delicate balance when in circumstances like you mentioned.'
