Glastonbury fans say Cyndi Lauper, 71, 'was really let down' as singer suffers 'awful' sound problems during her set: 'I felt so bad for her!'

Cyndi Lauper's Glastonbury performance on Saturday was hit with criticism after major sound problems disrupted the set.

Festival goers were left struggling to hear the Girls Just Wanna Have Fun singer's vocals as her voice was drowned out by rumbling bass.

After a few songs, Cyndi, 71, performed Rocking Chair and she seemed to struggle with her pitch and timing.

The sound issues appeared to have been resolved by the time she got to her hit I Drove All Night.

But Cyndi faltered again on her 1984 track Time After Time as she lagged behind the band - suggesting she was having trouble with her in-ear monitors.

The singer was seen looking at members of the production team by the side of the Pyramid stage as she continued to put on a show for the audience.

The crowd came to the rescue lifting Cyndi up as they sang along to her mega hits True Colors and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.

Despite the issues, Cyndi, who has more than 40 years of stage experience under her belt, was every inch the professional.

Some fans took to X - formerly known as Twitter - to complain about the 'awful sound issues' during the legends set.

'Awful sound issues for Cyndi Lauper. Really felt for her.'

'Felt so bad for #CyndiLauper - could see she was p****d off with the sound issues.'

'@CyndiLauper was really let down by sound system at @Glastonbury. Couldn’t hear her vocals but could see the effort she was putting in to try and rouse a crowd that couldn’t get over the poor sound. Everyone around us so disappointed.'

'Some obvious sound issues but I'm still enjoying'.

'What a set!!!'

MailOnline has contacted Glastonbury for comment.

Cyndi looked incredible for the afternoon performance as she donned a silver corset with a pair of matching trousers and a ruffled blue long coat.

Speaking to the audience, which stretched to the back of the Pyramid Stage field, she asked: 'How are you doing. I see you. I love you. You are everywhere'.

She opened her set with the 1980s track The Goonies 'R' Good Enough before later pulling out a recorder as she played along to 2008 single The Nightlife.

But the American singer also used her stage time to make a passionate plea for women's rights.

She said: 'It is time that world leaders understand that women are half the population of the world, and we deserve to be treated equally.'

Ending the set, she thanked the audience and said, 'have a great party, kids'.
