With features like AI summary and AI Studio, Oppo says AI will be at the centre of Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro
Oppo is going to launch its flagship Reno 12 series in India very soon. While the company has yet to reveal the launch timeline, the teasers coming in from the company's way indicate that the launch is going to be soon. The Reno 12 series will include two smartphones, the Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro. Last week, the Reno 12 series debuted in the Chinese market as well. As we wait to hear more about the India launch of the Reno 12 series, the company has teased that AI will be at the centre of these smartphones. Oppo says the Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro will be "your everyday AI companion".
Oppo says the Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro will feature a suite of AI features like AI Best Face, AI Eraser 2.0, and AI Clear Face, which will help users do professional-grade photo editing without the need for additional software. The company has also spoken about a feature called AI Studio that will allow users to transform photos into digital avatars, leveraging Generative AI technology.
For productivity, the Reno12 series will come with tools such as AI Summary, AI Record Summary, AI Clear Voice, AI Writer, and AI Speak. These features streamline tasks like summarising meetings, enhancing voice clarity during calls, and optimising network use. The AI Clear Voice feature reduces background noise, ensuring clear conversations even in noisy environments, while AI LinkBoost improves data transmission efficiency.
The Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro will also come with advanced battery management through Oppo's Trinity Engine, which the company claims can adjust power consumption based on app usage, extending battery life.
Oppo has confirmed that the smartphones will sport a 5,000mAh battery along with support for 80W SuperVOOC Flash Charge. With this, the company claims that the battery can be charged from 0 to 100 per cent in 46 minutes. The smartphones will also feature Smart Charging that will adapt to user habits to maintain battery longevity.
The Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro will also include BeaconLink technology. This feature ensures reliable communication during network outages by allowing seamless one-to-one voice calls via Bluetooth, functioning similarly to a walkie-talkie in no-network environments.
Oppo Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro: Expected specifications
While Oppo hasn't confirmed other specifications for the Reno 12 series, we can look at the Chinese variants to see what we can expect from the two smartphones. Most likely, barring the chipset, the Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro Indian variants will have the same specifications as the ones launched in China.
In China, the Oppo Reno 12 is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC, 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It operates on Android 14-based ColorOS 14.1. The device includes a 5,000 mAh battery with 80W fast charging support.
The Reno 12 features a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate, offering a pixel density of 394 PPI and peak brightness of 1,200 nits. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i and supports HDR10+.
For photography, the Reno 12 has a 50-megapixel Sony LYT600 primary sensor, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro unit. The front camera is 32 MP with an f/2.0 aperture and autofocus.
The Oppo Reno 12 Pro shares similar specifications but includes a 50 MP telephoto lens and an upgraded 50 MP front camera, both with f/2.0 apertures and autofocus.
