11 Bangladeshi nationals, who entered Tripura illegally, held at Agartala Railway Station

Eleven Bangladeshi nationals, including five women, were arrested from Agartala Railway Station for intruding into Tripura with the intention to move to other states of the country in search of job opportunities, said a police officer of the Government Railway Police station on Sunday.

They were arrested from the Agartala Railway Station on Saturday and produced before the court on Sunday. During interrogation, the Bangladeshi nationals failed to produce any valid document, said officer in-charge of Government Railway Police station Tapash Das.

He added that they claimed that they had planned to go to Odisha, Kolkata or Bangalore in search of jobs.

Two days ago, two Bangladeshi nationals were arrested from Agartala Railway Station before they could board a train to reach Karnataka.

Earlier on June 26, five persons, including four Bangladeshi women, were arrested while they tried to leave the state from Agartala Railway Station.

Three days prior to that, nine Bangladeshi nationals, including six women, were arrested while they attempted to board a train from Agartala Railway Station for other states in the country in search of job opportunities.

A series of arrests of drug peddlers, gun runners and human traffickers came to light recently at the Agartala Railway Station, which is suspected by authorities to be used as a corridor for trafficking.
