Colts News: Big Injury Update On Anthony Richardson Provided By Indianapolis GM

The Indianapolis Colts entered the 2024 offseason looking to get themselves a little more shored up for the new year. The Colts finished the 2023 season with a record of 9-8, barely missing out on a postseason berth.

Indianapolis found a lot of success this past season, despite missing arguably the key piece to the puzzle, quarterback Anthony Richardson. Richardson was the No. 4 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and looked like an absolute star in the making while on the field.

However, injury struck the young signal-caller and he was limited to just four games on the year. In those games, he showed exactly why the Colts selected him so high in the draft. He threw for 577 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. But it was his dual-threat ability that set him apart on the field.

Richardson rushed 25 times for 136 yards and four touchdowns. His ability to spread the field with his running ability really helped to unlock the Colts' offense, so it was a massive loss when he got hurt.

With the new season coming down the pipeline soon, Colts general manager Chris Ballard provided a positive update on the health status of Richardson. He appeared on the GM Shuffle podcast to update the status of Richardson heading into training camp.

"He'll be full-go," Colts general manager Chris Ballard said during an appearance on The GM Shuffle podcast. "He was full-go all the way up until the last day of OTAs, and we had two heavy throwing sessions the two days before, and so we backed off a little on the last day."

With this news, it's great for the Colts' potential next season. If they can get Richardson back healthy, it would allow them to continue growing toward more success, potentially becoming a playoff team this season. His injury to his throwing shoulder required surgery but it seems that his injury is good to go. He will be tested during training camp before the Colts throw him into game action but this is all trending in a great way for Indianapolis.

The team may be cautious with him right out of the gate but those precautions will be taken off once he shows he can do everything. Richardson is the future of the Colts, so getting him ready for the season is priority No. 1 for this team. The Colts are looking forward to a solid season from their now second-year star.
