Amazon Prime Video's latest captivating and innovative drama, My Lady Jane, features Emily Bader in the role of historical heroine Jane Grey.

By the end of the first season, Jane and Guildford Dudley (played by Edward Bluemel) have narrowly avoided a grisly fate, but the ruthless Queen Mary (Kate O'Flynn) remains in power.

Meanwhile , Susanna (Máiréad Tyers) and the rest of the Ethians continue to face danger following the failed execution of Jane, an event that history enthusiasts will recognise had a vastly different outcome in real life.

Moreover, the unexpected revelation that Bess (Abbie Hern) is also an Ethian, coupled with Edward's (Jordan Peters) ongoing struggle to harness his power, undoubtedly paves the way for more Royal escapades in a potential second series.

Given that it's a brand-new drama, the studio is likely waiting to gauge the performance of the initial episodes before fully committing to more.

However, showrunners Gemma Burgess and Meredith Glynn appear confident enough in the concept to introduce additional mysteries and plotlines for future exploration.

In an interview with Express.co.uk, the writers disclosed that they're already immersed in researching Tudor history and are eager to delve into - and reinterpret - the narratives of other characters.

Meredith revealed: "There are people in season one who, without spoiling, if you know Tudor history go on to lead big, bad-a** lives.

"And also there are characters like Katherine Grey (Isabella Brownson) who had a really tragic life," Gemma, her writing partner, chimed in.

"And it would be great to be able to retell a tragic character's story. Frances Grey went on to serve Mary's court even though Mary had killed her daughter.

"So, there's lots of different stories that would be really fun to carry on."

The cast is also keen to keep the saga going, even if Emily, the Californian-born lead, has to spend another seven months in the UK for filming.

Her colleague Máiréad enthusiastically shared: "I would definitely come back for season two of My Lady Jane, 100 percent. I'd love to."

However, for now, fans are left in suspense, hoping the debut season garners enough viewers to justify a sequel.
