Shania Twain's Glastonbury set leaves fans complaining she's 'been thrown under the bus'

Shania Twain, 58, entertained crowds at Glastonbury as she graced the Pyramid Stage in the coveted Legends slot, but many viewers at home watching were all left with the same complaint.

The country sensation opened her set to thousands of excited fans with her classic hit That Don't Impress Me Much. Yet, those tuning in from their sofas were less than impressed as they took to social media to plead with festival chiefs to up their game on the sound quality front.

Some armchair critics were also quick to brand the performance as "flat," as one person took to X to write: "#Glastonbury Well that didn't impress me much, flat as a pancake."

A second gave their two cents: "This isn't impressing me much. #Glastonbury." Another fan added: "C'mon #Glastonbury sort the sound out for #Shania. She's a trooper, so she's keeping on keeping on, but she deserves better than this!"

Meanwhile, someone else quipped: "Are her in-ears not working, or is she just having one live? #Glastonbury."

The sound quality of the performance even sparked concern among some fans, with one person posting: "Is Shania unwell? She sounds like she's really struggling with her vocals here. A shame. #Glastonbury #Glastonbury2024."

But fans were also quick to jump to Shania Twain's defence after her Glastonbury performance was marred by sound issues. One fan said: "Shania Twain and Cyndi Lauper both thrown under the bus by the Glastonbury sound engineers. Looks like neither of them could hear themselves so were out of time. Also, the sound mix is generally dreadful."

Another chimed in with support: "Tapping in to defend Shania Twain. She can really sing live, as someone who stood this close to her. Something is just not working for her here..." Meanwhile, frustration was palpable as another added: "What the hell is going on with the sound at Glastonbury this year? They've done Shania Twain dirty here #painful."

The conversation continued as one viewer remarked: "I can only assume the sound system at Glastonbury is faulty because Shania Twain sounds like me..."

"Cyndi had similar problems yesterday. Don't the organisers do the sound properly for female artists?," another noted. "Same thing was happening with Cyndi Lauper; it's like it's lagging behind," someone else agreed.

Shania Twain hit the stage for her first Glastonbury, joining a massive line-up with big names such as Dua Lipa, SZA, Coldplay, Avril Lavigne, LCD Soundsystem, Burna Boy, and Cyndi Lauper.
