Former LOONA member Chuu has finally won her lawsuit against her former label Blockberry Creative. The Supreme Court has upheld the appellate court's ruling that was in the singer's favour.

On June 27, the South Korean Supreme Court dismissed Blockberry Creative's appeal against former LOONA member Chuu's lawsuit win, upholding the ruling by the lower court's that Chuu's exclusive contract with the label is invalid. The Supreme Court invoked discontinuation of adjudication, which dismisses the appeal without hearing the case, unless there is a specific reason, such as illegality in the judgment of the lower court.

Back in 2021, Chuu had initiated a lawsuit against Blockberry Creative over profit settlements. In the initial trial, Chuu's legal team argued that Blockberry Creative's exclusive contract imposed excessive penalties on the Heart Attack singer. The court ruled in favour of Chuu, rejecting Blockberry's claim that her subsequent activities and contract with another label invalidated her contract with the label. The court emphasized that since the contract specified its duration, changing labels did not automatically render it void. Additionally, it highlighted disparities in profit distribution and deemed them highly unfair. While Blockberry contested the ruling, both the appellate court and the Supreme Court upheld the original decision.

Following the Supreme Court's ruling, Chuu seeming took a dig at her former label. Taking to Instagram, the starlet shared a screenshot from Animal Crossing with the caption, "If you don’t want to lose, you just have to keep going until you win."

Kim Ji-woo, known by her stage name Chuu, debuted as a member of LOONA in 2017. However, in November 2022, Blockberry Creative announced that Chuu had been expelled from LOONA due to "reports of abuse of power." The Strawberry Rush singer, who refuted the claims, received support for fans as well as industry professionals who had previously worked with her.
