Stocks To Watch, Shares In News: A decisive upside momentum continued in the market for the fourth consecutive sessions on Thursday. Both the benchmark indices fell in early trade but later rebounded sharply with the Sensex breaching the historic 79,000-mark for the first time and the Nifty crossing the 24,000-mark amid buying in blue-chip stocks.
The 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 568.93 points or 0.72 per cent to close at 79,243.18. The index hit its new lifetime peak of 79,396.03, helped by buying in bluechip Reliance Industries. The NSE Nifty index opened on a flat note and gained momentum as the day progressed. The benchmark index closed 175.70 points or 0.74 per cent higher at 24,044.50. The index hits fresh all-time high of 24,087.45.
Meanwhile, GIFT Nifty on Thursday early morning was trading in the green above 24,043, indicating that benchmark NSE Nifty50 may see a positive start.
