SEVENTEEN steers UNESCO’S youth vision by becoming the first ever Goodwill Ambassador for Youth
In a landmark event at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, K-Pop boy band SEVENTEEN stepped into their role as UNESCO’s inaugural Goodwill Ambassador for Youth, marking a pivotal moment in their illustrious career. The ceremony, attended by a global audience both in person and via livestream, witnessed SEVENTEEN deliver an impassioned speech emphasising the transformative power of unity and shared dreams among today’s youth.
“We are grateful to be recognised for our consistent effort and longstanding passion to contribute to youth worldwide,” said JOSHUA, on behalf of SEVENTEEN, As the Ambassador for Youth, we will spread the power of companionship and contribute to building supportive youth communities for the better future we envision.”
He continued, We know that our dreams don’t stand alone and now, to give back what we’ve received from all of you, we are determined to use our voice to create a global youth community made stronger through mutual love and support.”
Prior to their official induction, SEVENTEEN engaged in substantive discussions with UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay, outlining a collaborative roadmap focused on youth-centric initiatives spanning creativity, well-being, and community engagement.
Director-General Azoulay lauded SEVENTEEN, "We are delighted to join forces with our new and first Goodwill Ambassador for Youth, the iconic K-pop group SEVENTEEN, capable of uplifting and inspiring young people worldwide. SEVENTEEN and UNESCO together will support youth-led projects in the fields of creativity and well-being worldwide, helping young people from all backgrounds to successfully support their communities in particular through music, arts and sport.”
As part of their ambassadorial duties, SEVENTEEN pledged a substantial contribution of 1 million USD towards the Global Youth Grant Scheme, underscoring their commitment to nurturing positive youth environments globally. This initiative marks a significant extension of SEVENTEEN’s ongoing ‘#GoingTogether’ campaign, aimed at fostering inclusive and supportive communities worldwide.
