Cassandra's mother, Deloris McCarthy, told The Jamaica Beacon that her daughter always complained about headaches, which would disappear after a short period.
In the days preceding her death, the headaches came in full swing, and despite receiving an injection, the pain persisted.
When they took her for an MRI scan, the results showed that Cassandra had a brain tumour that was in its advanced stages.
Cassandra was eulogized as a beautiful teacher who was loved by the community, and her death shook many people.
Arguably, the even sadder bit about the young woman's demise is that her wedding was set for August.
McCarthy disclosed that her daughter initially wanted to wed in December 2023, but she convinced her to push it ahead.
“I wanted her to get baptized first before the wedding, now this is the result,” the grieving mother said.
Her death brings back memories of an earlier incident where she survived a fire and had to spend seven years in hospital.
Somehow, Cassandra beat the odds and rebuilt her life, only for her to die in hospital following the short illness.
