Italian model Fabio Lanzoni was seen for the first time in three years while outside his home in Los Angeles on Monday.

The romance book cover model was as dressed down as can be as he was wearing only a white belted robe and black slippers with no socks on.

The hunky 6ft3in star had his signature flowing light brown hair pulled back in a messy ponytail as he stood behind a Porsche and a Bentley.

The 1980s icon from Milan was seen talking to some construction men in the driveway of his large home.

The 65-year-old is best known for posing for book covers but he has also appeared on TV shows such as Roseanne, America's Next Top Model and The Bold And The Beautiful.

And he has been seen in films too; in 2001 he appeared in the Ben Stiller movie Zoolander and in 2017 he had a role in Sharknado 5: Global Swarming.

In addition to gracing the covers of hundreds of romance novels, Fabio has served as a spokesman for a variety of brands, including I Can't Believe It's Not Butter! and Old Spice

The model has an incredible story when it comes to starting his career as it remarkably required little effort. 

Lanzoni, who became a U.S. citizen in 2016, was discovered by a photographer while working out as a young teen.

He said to The Guardian in 2015: 'My career started when I was barely 14 years old. I was in Milan, at the gym, and one of the two biggest photographers in Europe, Oliviero Toscani, came up to me and said, "You should model."

'I wasn't in the industry, so I had no idea who he was. I remember giving him my father's phone number. He called my father, hired me for a big campaign and things took off from there.'

Fabio also told The Guardian: 'I'd be the biggest hypocrite if I said I really worked very hard for my career, because it was given to me on a silver platter. I can't take any credit. My major focus was sports and going to the gym.'

Fabio says he really hit the top of his fame in 1993 when he appeared on the cover of People magazine.

Fabio cashed in on his looks as a romance novel cover star throughout the eighties and nineties

The shoot was in Hawaii, he remembers. 'I loved that shoot, I was treated like a king! It's one of my best memories of that time in my life,' he said.

The star is very careful with his health as he avoids alcohol, drugs and even caffeine. Junk food is out too and he prefers to stick to Japanese meals.

And he works out daily, doing aerobics, weight training and power walks. He has stated that a body should be treated 'like a Lamborghini.'

The actor, who has never wed or been linked to a female celebrity during his 50 years of fame, has talked his love life in the past.

The star said years ago he was single but wanted to fall in love and maybe even get married.

'I look for the entire package. To me, the entire package is everything – mind, body and soul,' he began.

'It's very hard to find people who are happy with themselves, and I'm very happy with myself. You need the whole combination.'

This is not the first time Fabio has revealed his plans on finding an Australian wife.

The model declared on Australian breakfast program The Morning Show: 'Australian women are the best, period.'

After complimenting the women of Australia, he went on to describe them as more 'domesticated' than their American and European counterparts.

'Everyone in the world knows they are down-to-earth, beautiful, very domesticated. The best thing for a man,' he said.

The hunk has never been married and he has said he would like to settle down one day; seen in 2016
