Prolintas confirms ‘personnel’ nabbed by MACC
Prolintas Group said it will fully cooperate with the authorities to assist in its investigation.
PETALING JAYA: Highway concessionaire Prolintas Group has confirmed that its CEO and two senior management members have been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
In a statement, the company said it would work closely and fully cooperate with the authorities to assist in its investigation.
“Prolintas is aware that our personnel have been remanded by MACC to assist in an ongoing investigation relating to a construction (contract).
“Prolintas continues to be committed to maintaining the highest levels of integrity and corporate governance.”
Prolintas’s CEO is Azlan Abdullah.
Earlier, a source said MACC had arrested the CEO, who is a “Datuk”, and two top officials of a Klang Valley highway concessionaire in connection with bribes involving two highway projects in the Klang Valley.
The anti-graft agency also arrested five individuals who own a company for allegedly offering bribes for the contracts.
The source said the trio were believed to have solicited and accepted bribes from the company owners to allow them to take over a construction contract worth RM1 billion, which was previously carried out by another company.
They allegedly sought and accepted more bribes for a RM670 million contract involving the construction of a section of another highway project in the Klang Valley.
When contacted, MACC deputy chief commissioner Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya confirmed the arrests and said the probe is being carried out under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.
