I'm a Shopping Editor, and This Showerhead Is My Secret to Good Hair
You've upgraded your shampoo, learned the Curly Girl Method, and stocked up on the best body washes for dry skin—but do you know what kind of water you're showering with? ICYMI, your water could be filled with calcium, chlorine, heavy metals, and minerals that you probably don't want to be spraying all over your precious hair.
It's been a month since I stopped using my crusty showerhead and started using Canopy's filtered showerhead ($150) instead, and lemme tell you it has truly upgraded my everything shower. In fact, it has literally improved every shower I take—my hair was noticeably softer after literally using it one time. Also, who knew that showering while standing in my little bathtub could feel so spa-like?
From now through June 30th, Cosmo readers can take 20% off their Canopy purchase over $50 using the code COSMO20! Canopy's fixed and handheld filtered showerheads both retail for $150, and you can currently get them for just $125 with a filter & aroma subscription—meaning that they'll come out to just $100 after the 20% off discount. This code also applies to Canopy's other devices, like their diffusers and their humidifiers.

Thinking about snagging one? Let's dive a little deeper into what it's like to purchase, install, and use the Canopy showerhead! Spoiler alert: If you're looking to bring out the big guns for taking care of your skin and hair, it's so dang worth it.
Be honest—how difficult was the installation?
I was pretty intimidated at first, but in a delightful twist of events, installation was truly so, so easy—and that's coming from me, a person who knows absolutely nothing about plumbing. I initially struggled to take off my existing showerhead because of tons of calcium buildup, but with a little elbow grease I (and by I, I mean my boyfriend) was able to unscrew it. After that, every part of the handheld clicked into place so easily that it made me think I genuinely might have a future being a handyman.
Plus, the entire thing is totally renter-friendly—I was able to stick the handheld showerhead right onto the wall without having to drill anything!

What parts does your purchase come with? Do you need any extra tools?
Every piece, part, and tool you could possibly need is conveniently included in the box. In addition to the fixed showerhead, your purchase will include the felt diffuser and aroma, the filter, and a handy wrench. If you purchase the handheld showerhead, you'll also get the scalp massager attachment, a mount, and a hose. And lastly, you can purchase different aromas (or refills of your favorites!) on the Canopy site for $20-$40.

The ~experience~
Can I just say that filtered-water showers feel so clean and glorious? The water pressure is excellent and it made me feel like one of those celebs who (reportedly) enjoy bathing in bottled water. I seriously enjoy how next-level luxurious each shower feels. I also felt comfortable sticking my face right under the shower stream knowing that the water was filtered, which saves a surprising amount of time!
I briefly ran into the issue of my showerhead initially spewing water out of the sides of the nozzle (and therefore not onto my hair, lol). But then I realized I forgot to peel off the little sticker on the inside filter so the water can actually flow through rather than squirting everywhere. Easy fix! 😅
The results
To my absolute shock, over the past month I've noticed less hair collecting in the drain, which says a lot considering the fact that I'm used to heavy shower shedding (that long hair/hormonal hair loss combo is pretty gnarly). I look forward to washing my hair now that it doesn't feel like a somehow-still-semi-dry, tangled mess after I rinse off my shampoo, and my (newly) softer hair is so much easier to comb in the shower!
And while I haven't really noticed an increase or decrease in breakouts, as a skincare obsessive (aka someone who had bad acne as a teen) I feel so much more confident about washing my face in the shower. I used to be big on jumping into the shower at the gym but have since ditched that routine because my filtered setup in my apartment is just too good.
So if you're wondering if you should finally make the jump, the answer is Y-E-S! See you never, unfiltered water—I don't think I'll ever go back!
