Local business owner preps for 30th annual Christmas dinner, aimed to serve thousands
A local business owner is preparing his annual Christmas dinner for the community.
This Monday will be Bob Bolus Sr.’s 30th annual Christmas Day Dinner and it will be held at All Saints Academy. Today, he and volunteers were busy prepping for the holiday feast.
“The most important part of this dinner is the people that show up,” said Bolus. “That’s my extended family and they’re coming to my Christmas dinner in our house so to speak.”
Bolus says Christmas is the most important day to him which is why he feels the need to give back.
Volunteers were busy decorating the area and preparing food as Bolus says they have hundreds of turkeys and thousands of boxes of turkey breasts to feed the community.
“We expect to do well over 3, 4 thousand meals out of this without batting an eye. And we’re well prepared to do it,” said Bolus.
He says Plainville Turkey Farms donated a lot of fresh turkey stuffing and gravy and local grocery stores brought in baked goods.
He says nothing will go to waste as all the extra food will be donated.
Joseph Tomasali was volunteering today with through Christmas.
“It’s just a great time of the year, great time to be with people at this time of the year and make friends and help the community,” said Tomasali.
Besides feeding people at the school, they will also be doing deliveries and making sure everyone takes food home.
Bolus says everyone is welcome as it’s important to be together during this time.
“We’ve gone a lot through in the last couple of years,” said Bolus. “Don’t be home alone on Christmas. Leave your issues, everything outside this door. It’s the comradery and the friends you make.”
The dinner will be held at St. Patrick’s Church/ All Saint’s Academy Hall from 12p.m to 6p.m. as all are welcomed to join. To find out more information, call 570-346-7659
