EXCLUSIVE: The X-Men Fight Against Apocalypse's Son in a Succession Battle
The following contains spoilers for X-Men: Heir of Apocalypse #2, on sale next week
Apocalypse has chosen twelve mutants to compete to determine who becomes the heir of Apocalypse on Earth (as Apocalypse himself has taken control of Arakko, which is on the planet formerly known as Mars), but now an unlucky thirteenth constestant has broke into the debate in this CBR exclusive preview of next week's X-Men: Heir of Apocalypse #2, and the new contestant is Apocalypse's son!
X-Men: Heir of Apocalypse #2 is from writer Steve Foxe, penciler Netho Diaz, inker JP Mayer (with Sean Parsons), colorist Alex Sinclair, and letterer Clayton Cowles, and it shows the first major obstacle for the twelve mutants who have agreed to go along with Apocalypse's succession plan, even if a number of the characters are there just to keep an eye on Apocalypse (like Cable, who has long been one of Apocalypse's biggest rivals, so he is not planning on being his enemy's successor). So far, the twelve mutants had only been forced to maneuver through a deadly maze in Egypt, but now they are threatened by a new problem, Apocalype's son wants in on the contest to succeed his father!

Apocalype's son was a major part of The Age of Apocalypse crossover event, which was set in an alternate reality where Apocalypse had taken control of the world by awakening before the world's superheroes were ready to stop him. His son was named Holocaust at the time, but nowadays, the main Marvel Universe version of his son (who is a much younger than the version of the character in the Age of Apocalypse) is known as Genocide.

The mutant heroes take a break from the contest to go stop Genocide from killing innocent people. Meanwhile, Mister Sinister begins to manipulate Armageddon Girl, setting up a possible future alliance (or just Sinister trying to get rid of his competition).
