Phylicia Rashad, Brian Stokes Mitchell and Victoria Clark Join Season 3 of ‘The Gilded Age'

Phylicia Rashad is joining the cast of HBO's The Gilded Age for season three, alongside several other Broadway stars.

Rashad, a two-time Tony Award winner and Emmy winner for her role on The Cosby Show, will play a recurring role as Mrs. Elizabeth Kirkland, described as a woman from a prominent family with exacting standards for her social group and her son. The son, Dr. William Kirland, will be played by Jordan Donica, a Tony nominee for Camelot.

She will play opposite Brian Stokes Mitchell, a Tony Award winner for Kiss Me, Kate, who will guest star as the husband to Rashad's character. Mitchell's character, Frederick Kirkland, is also the pastor of a prominent Black church in the community.

Victoria Clark, a Tony Award winner for starring role in Kimberly Akimbo, will guest star as Joan Carlton, a kind woman from old money in New York who supports her son, but finds herself in a "complicated and insulting situation."

They join a cast of recurring lead actors including Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Cynthia Nixon, and Christine Baranski in the drama revolving around New York in the 1880s and the daily conflicts involved in the emerging social scene and between different classes.

The Gilded Age is a co-production between HBO and Universal Television, with Julian Fellowes as its creator, writer and executive producer, and Sonja Warfield as a writer and executive producer.

Rashad is represented by BKEntertainment and Innovative Artists. Donica is represented by Bold Management & Production; Independent Artists Group, and Jackoway Austen. Mitchell is represented by Paradigm and Clark is represented by Innovative Artists and Untitled Entertainment.
