Some Destiny 2 Players Think an Exotic Ship is Teasing Future Content

  • Destiny 2's latest expansion sets the stage for a new era, potentially hinting at players exploring new star systems in future content.
  • The upcoming episodes of Destiny 2 promise exciting new locations, weapons, and gear, giving fans plenty to look forward to.
  • The mention of "Codename Frontiers" has reignited speculation about Guardians venturing beyond the Solar System in a possible major expansion.

The conclusion of Destiny 2's decade-long Light and Dark saga marks the start of a new age for the franchise, and some fans curious about the game's future have pointed out some in-game flavor text that could potentially be teasing the idea of a widely-circulated fan theory coming true in a future expansion. While the possibility of Guardians traveling beyond the confines of the Sol system has swirled through the minds of countless players since the very beginning of the franchise, the case for players getting to visit completely new star systems seems stronger now than ever before, especially in light of Bungie's recent reveal of upcoming Destiny 2 content.

The conclusion of Destiny 2's incredible Final Shape expansion has vast consequences for the universe as a whole, and without going into too much detail, it's safe to say that fans will still have their hands pretty full as the year unfolds. With Destiny 2's seasonal model seeing a significant overhaul, fans can look forward to three episodes throughout the next year for the game - Episode: Echoes, Episode: Revenant, and Episode: Heresy. A recently-released video from Bungie titled "The Journey Ahead" gives fans a feel for what these episodes will entail, the locations they'll take players to, as well as the new weapons and gear they'll introduce.

With the launch of a new expansion in Destiny 2, the Power Cap has gone up, and here is what it is and how to reach it.

And yet, perhaps the most eye-catching part of the reveal is the tease of "Codename Frontiers," which more than likely pertains to the next major expansion for Destiny 2. This rather on-the-nose project name has rekindled interest in the possibility of Guardians taking the fight beyond the Solar System - and while players have been interested in this idea for years, some players have pointed out that some flavor text associated with a ship released with Season of the Seraph might have provided an early hint at this. Pointed out in a post shared by the fan known as RayS0I0, the exotic ship in question is called "Exohelian," and features flavor text which reads: "Someday, we will see the skies of worlds outside Sol's reach."

The Case For Destiny 2 to Take Players Beyond The Solar System

Of course, this flavor text may not have intentionally teased potential future content at all, and may be nothing more than the representation of humanity's optimism even in the face of their potential extinction at the hands of the Black Fleet. That said, Destiny 2 certainly has room to shake things up going forward, and fans have good reason to speculate that a future expansion will take them to entirely new worlds.

From hints left by Savathun that suggest humanity's fate lies beyond the stars to the very real possibility of Guardians helping Caiatl's Cabal taking back their homeworld of Torobatl, now is a better time than ever for Guardians to travel beyond the system. Until the next big expansion, though, players will have plenty of new story to explore through Destiny 2's upcoming episodes.
