IndiGo flight from Delhi to Bagdogra returns to terminal after waiting 2 hrs on tarmac
IndiGo's flight 6E 2521 bound for Bagdogra returned to terminal after being on the tarmac for two hours, CNBC-TV18 reported.
The Delhi-Bagdogra IndiGo flight got delayed on June 17, and the airline’s crew cited various reasons behind the delay before eventually returning to Terminal 2 of the Delhi airport. At first, the pilots announced that there were issues with one of the engines. Later, passengers were reportedly informed there were issues with the fuel tank.
According to CNBC-TV18, several passengers complained that even the air conditioning was not functional inside the plane and one of the passenger’s health deteriorated due to the shortage of oxygen.
Shortly after the incident came to light, the airline released a statement saying the Delhi-Bagdogra IndiGo flight was delayed owing to high ground temperatures.
The statement read, “IndiGo flight 6E 2521 between Delhi and Bagdogra was delayed due to high ground temperatures impeding operations. IndiGo prioritises passenger safety above all else and is taking steps to enable a prompt departure. Passengers are being provided with regular updates and we regret the inconvenience caused due to factors beyond the airline's control.”
Notably, the incident occurred on the same day Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) reported a power failure that impacted domestic and international flight operations. The disruption in power supply also hampered the boarding and check-in process at the airport.
