Team India have successfully landed in Barbados to play the Super 8 round of the T20 World Cup. India have been placed in Group 1, where they will lock horns with Australia, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, three opponents who they know very well and will fancy their chances. The men in blue are scheduled to play their Super 8 matches in Kensington Oval, Bridgetown and Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua. The Rohit Sharma-led Team India play their first Super 8 match against Afghanistan on June 20, 2024.
India were scheduled to play their last group stage game against Canada on June 16, 2024 at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida, but the match was abandoned doe to persistent rains and floods in the region. The Indian team have now landed in Barbados and have few days ahead of their big game against neighbours Afghanistan. Prior to the match, the Indian team indulged in a fun session of beach volleyball.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), took to their social media handle to share a video of the Indian team having a gala time in Barbados. The video showcases the likes of Virat Kohli, Shivam Dubey, Rinku Singh, Arshdeep Singh and the other members of the support staff enjoying a pleasant and warm day in Barbados with a session of beach volleyball. Earlier, Hardik Pandya also said that he is looking forward to visit the beaches and enjoy the pleasant weather in the Caribbean islands.
As far as India's group stage performances are concerned, they were extremely clinical with the ball while the batting department still has few boxes to tick. India comfortably defeated Ireland, Pakistan and USA and qualified for the Super 8 stage. The 'Men in Blue' are still undefeated in the ongoing T20 World Cup and they'll look to continue their winning momentum. India last won a major ICC event back in 2013, the Champion's Trophy under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Since then, India have ended up getting knocked out from crucial stages of the ICC events and they will look to better this record in the ongoing T20 World Cup.
