NEET UG 2024 Controversy: AISA Announces Nationwide Student Strike On June 19-20
NEET 2024 Controversy: On June 15, 2024, the All India Students Association (AISA) and several NEET students held a press conference at the Press Club of India in Delhi. The speakers included AISA General Secretary Prasenjeet Kumar, Delhi State Secretary Neha, and JNUSU President Dhananjay. In response to the ongoing controversy surrounding the NEET UG 2024 exam, AISA has announced a nationwide student strike on June 19 and 20, 2024. The announcement came during a press conference held at the Press Club of India in Delhi, where student leaders and NEET students voiced their grievances and demands.
"The story of the NTA's mismanagement and corruption is not a new one. Students all over the country have realised that what happened in NEET 2024 is a symptom, the real disease is NTA," JNUSU President Dhananjay said.
"We are seeing a massive tide of resentment against the discrepancies in exams. On 19th and 20th of June, students from all over the country will observe Student Strike demanding reconduct of NEET 2024, high level independent inquiry of the corruption and scrapping of the NTA," AISA General Secretary, Prasenjeet added.
"It is absolutely shameful that we gave so much effort and now we have to suffer due to the corruption and mismanagement of NTA. Why wasn't action taken on the FIRs filed against paper leak? Why was the result declared 10 days early? We demand answers," Manas, a victim, said.
"It is absurd that the person responsible for NTA's massive failure is now the chairman of the inquiry. We demand an independent high-level inquiry into the NEET 2024 scam," Robin, the brother of a NEET aspirant, criticising the investigation process said.
The decision by AISA to call for a nationwide student strike on June 19 and 20, 2024, highlights the deep concerns and dissatisfaction among students regarding the NEET 2024 exam. This move reflects their strong demand for transparency, fairness, and accountability within the education system.
