2024 New BMW 5 Series LWB First Look, Interior And Features
BMW has revealed the new generation 5 Series sedan for India and yes, as expected it will now be offered in a long wheelbase version much like rival, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. For BMW this is a natural progression since the 3 Series also comes exclusively with a long wheelbase version. With the new 5 Series, slated for launch by July 24th, there is a lot more to talk about as well with regards to the technology and luxury. Here are the top 5 things to know.
1.The new 5 Series in its long wheelbase avatar is much longer and now nearly has the length of the previous generation 7 Series. BMW has considerably extended the length and it is now the longest car in its class with a length of 5175mm while the wheelbase at 3105mm has grown 130mm in comparison to the outgoing 5 Series.
2. It not only looks bigger but has a more aggressive look while coming with more details similar to the 7 Series. The huge grille is illuminated along with a four eyed adaptive LED headlamp set-up while the side gets a lovely character line running across with 5 embossed on the C Pillar.
3. The interiors take a huge leap forward in terms of design or tech with again a shrunken 7 Series look. There is a massive curved display angled towards the driver plus an interaction bar similar to the 7 Series along with invisible air vents neatly tucked away. There is a lot of metal/ dark wood trim and crystal detailing. Like new BMWs there are less physical controls now.
4. The rear seat is the talking point with soft cushions and a large door with huge space at the back- much more than the previous 5 Series. These contour seats offer great space while the features list includes a huge panoramic sunroof offered for the first time in India. There is also a wireless charging pad but the India spec version does not have the TV at the back which folds down like the 7 Series.
5. BMW has not revealed engines for India but we expect 530il and 530d powertrains at the launch along with drive assistance features also being offered. There is also a premium audio system and a lot more features on offer while for the Indian market BMW has tweaked the 5 Series long wheelbase with more ground clearance while specific details would be known at launch.
At first impression, this is a lot more luxurious than the previous 5 Series with a lot of luxury plus technology which owners in this segment would like including the huge rear space.
