Nepal crashed out of the 2024 T20 World Cup's league stage following their heart-breaking defeat against South Africa on Saturday (June 15) morning. The Rohit Paudel-led side fell short by just one run in the chase to the target of 115 in St Vincent. Nepal were 91/3 after 15 overs and needed 24 runs in the last four overs. South Africa made a remarkable comeback from that stage and finished the league stage with a win.

Dale Steyn, who is in the USA for the commentary duties, called the Nepal-South Africa game the 'match of the tournament' and revealed why Nepal deserved to win this game.

"It was incredible to watch. I think the match of the tournament. I'm a big underdog fan, so even being a South African, I was kind of like, come on, Nepal. You know you were supporting them," the former South Africa pacer told ICC.

Their next game against Sri Lanka was abandoned out due to rain. Nepal lost their third game of the tournament against SA. They will now face Bangladesh in their last game on June 17 from 5:00 AM IST.
