Namish Taneja: Men should also come forward and discuss their mental health issues and not ignore them
The month of June is Men's Health month. Actor Namish Taneja wants to take this opportunity to share how mental health is an important issue which needs to be addressed well. He said, "Mental health issues are common among both men and women, but since June is Men's Health month, I would like to share how men overlook many mental health issues and more men should come forward like women to talk about them. He said, "It is important that men also give crucial importance to their physical and mental health issues. Men's issues should be addressed as much as women's issues." He added, "While I see a lot more women come forward and talk about mental health issues, men don't discuss mental health among friends and family. Men are conditioned and taught since childhood to be strong and not show tears or become vulnerable. This makes it even more difficult for them to talk about their struggles. And it leads to depression and anxiety."
Taneja who has acted in shows like Swaragini, Vidya, Ikyawann, Main Maayke Chali Jaungi Tum Dekhte Rahiyo stressed on the importance of creating a supportive environment where men feel comfortable sharing their feelings. He said, "Men should also discuss their issues and ask for help. As an actor, the pressure can be intense, and the industry can be very demanding. Unfortunately, in the past few years, the industry has lost many individuals because of depression and ignoring mental health." Sharing how he takes good care of his mental health, Namish said, "Taking care of my mental health has been important. I take regularly take breaks, spend time with loved ones, and practice meditation and breathing techniques. These things help me develop a positive mind."
On a parting note, the actor shares, "Let's use this month to start conversations about health. Encourage the men around you to go for regular check-ups, eat healthy, exercise and most importantly talk about their feelings. Small steps can make a big difference. Health is wealth. Let's make sure we all do our part to support the men in our lives, not just this month, but every month."
On the professional front, Namish is all set to be seen playing lead in an upcoming show Mishri, produced by Ved Raj.
