Kannada audiences are now embracing newer themes: Vinay Bidappa

Actor Vinay Bidappa was part of three big films in 2022 - KGF, Kantara and Vedha. Being bombarded with offers, despite small roles in the three big-scale films, Vinay believes that good content is what the audiences are looking forward to, now. “ Kannada audiences are embracing new themes now. Irrespective of genre, films with solid content hold the key to the future of films, especially with OTT boom, and Blink is a very good example. Keeping aside the traditional mindset, the audience are exploring new grounds and as actors and filmmakers, we have to provide them exactly that,” he says.

Now, Vinay has been roped in to play the antagonist in Duniya Vijay’s upcoming film, #VK29. He is elated to be part of the project, which is set in a different era “Director Jadesha’s last film, Guru Shishyaru, also thrived on good content. I am really looking forward to share the screen with Duniya Vijay,” he shares.

The actor, who was also part of Telugu film Razakar, says, “Everybody there (in Tollywood) spoke so highly about KGF and Kantara and it was a pure bliss to be part of both the projects! Projects like these are putting the Kannada film industry on the global map. Today, when we discuss films, we call it Indian cinema rather than regional cinema and I am glad that I was part of both projects that blurred the lines for regional and Indian cinema, even though they were small roles,” sums up the actor, who is also likely to join the Kantara 2 shoot in November.
