Taylor Swift makes cheeky Travis Kelce gesture during Dublin show
Taylor Swift paid a sweet tribute to her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, during her recent Eras Tour concert in Dublin.
Just days after Kelce made a surprise appearance at one of Swift's Wembley shows earlier this week, the pop sensation showed that he was still on her mind, even though he wasn't present in the audience. The Super Bowl-winning tight end had previously joined his lady love on stage, much to the delight of her fans.
Even though he wasn't seen supporting or on stage on Friday night, Swift acknowledged her NFL beau by mimicking Kelce's iconic celebration while performing 'Midnight Rain' from her Midnights album. Fans captured footage of the moment she made the gesture during the emotional song about relationships.
Swift sang the lyrics: "And he never thinks of me, except when I'm on TV" before sticking out her tongue and striking an awkward yet touching archer pose. She flashed a cheeky smile at the crowd, who responded with loud cheers.
Swift appeared to replicate Kelce's iconic celebration
Swift has previously performed this move while singing her hit 'So High School,' a song speculated to be about Kelce.
The song is packed with lyrics and references believed to be about their relationship, most notably the line: 'You know how to ball, I know Aristotle. ' Kelce also seemed to confirm its origin as he listed it among his top three songs by his sweetheart, adding that it has "a little bit of a sentimental meaning."
Kelce was asked about the speculation that he features in the song through those lyrics. He seemed to think it's about him but didn't appear to be entirely sure, responding with a quote from the lyrics: "I think so, I think so, you know what I'm saying."
Kelce's archer celebration has become his signature
The Chiefs star made a cameo during Swift's performance of her hit 'I Can Do It With a Broken Heart'. He ran onto the stage dressed in a top hat and tails, playing the role of her saviour and motivator.
He helped Swift up from the floor as she acted out exhaustion. After aiding her recovery from her pretend heartbreak, Swift carried on with the show while Kelce cheered her on.
ESPN presenter Pat McAfee has praised Swift's influence on Kelce. He believes that she will play a crucial role in Kelce's decision to continue his NFL career amid rumours that he's preparing to retire.
"I think Taylor motivates him to continue to go," McAfee said. "I think he watches her do her thing, and he goes: 'Holy s***, she sells out stadiums in every city around the entire world, she continues to make bangers, she's hands-on in everything.' He probably thinks, 'Yes, this is exactly who I need to be around.'".
