Mandurah residents will have to cough up an extra $65 on average for rates bills after the City of Mandurah council approved a rise of almost 4 per cent.
At Tuesday night’s council meeting, councillors approved the annual budget, which included a 3.98 per cent increase in rates for the 2024-25 financial year.
The city is estimated to generate $98.8 million in rates revenue from the rise, more than 68 per cent of total operating revenue.

The rates are expected to help pay for the city’s major capital projects works over 2024-25 including completing the Dawesville Community Centre, and upgrades to the Coodanup and Dawesville foreshores.
The approved rates come as the annual budget estimates a deficit of $449,343 with city officers required to find savings to achieve a balanced budget by June 30, 2025.
An efficiency target of $250,000 has also been included in the budget, requiring officers to reduce city costs by that much throughout the year.
The budget includes $39.82 million in capital expenditure.
