‘Heartbroken’: Parents devastated after thieves steal tiara from little’s girl’s grave lockbox

A Queensland family have been left “heartbroken” after “low life” thieves stole a little girl’s tiara from her grave less than a month before the four-year anniversary of her death.

In a cruel act, the “precious” keepsake was stolen from a glass lockbox attached to Brittney Conway’s grave on the Gold Coast last week.

Brittney’s death first made headlines in 2020 after the three-year-old accidentally swallowed a button battery and died in Queensland’s Children’s Hospital.

Brittney’s mum, Lorraine Conway, said the tiara commemorated “a vivacious little girl” who loved to dress up.

“Brittney loved wearing big bows and pretty dresses, she loved the tiaras and high heels,” Ms Conway told 7News.

“We just wanted her to know she was our little princess.”

Unsure if police would be able to help, Ms Conway issued a scathing message to the thieves online in hopes the public may be able to help find her little girl’s tiara.

“What f**king dirty low life dogs to steal my daughters tiara from her lockbox on her grave,” she wrote.

“Hope you get haunted forever. We will get you a new one, but this one was sat on her final bed before we laid her to rest.”

Ms Conway said the community response had been so “heartwarming”, with two men offering to donate $1000 to pay for a new tiara.

“I reached out to Facebook and a lot of the community pages just to see if anyone may have seen it,” she told the Today show on Tuesday morning.

“It’s something we want to give to Abby (Brittney’s sister) later in life so that she gets to keep from her sissy.”

“I don’t want anyone to get into trouble. I just want the tiara returned.”

Mr Conway pleaded with the thieves to leave the tiara at the Mudgeeraba Police Station or return the precious keepsake to Brittney’s grave.
