Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan sign MoU for implementing river linking project
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal on Sunday signed an agreement for the implementation of the Rs 72,000 crore Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal river linking project in Bhopal.
The chief ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during an event in Bhopal on Sunday.
The project would provide water to 13 districts in Rajasthan, and Malwa and Chambal regions in Madhya Pradesh.
It would also help in irrigation in at least 2.8 lakh hectare area each in both states, including supplementation of route tanks in the states.
Addressing the event after singing the MoU, Yadav said, "Following this agreement, drinking water and irrigation facilities can be expanded in 13 districts of Madhya Pradesh including Morena, Gwalior, Sheopur, and Rajgarh."
"Every drop of water will be used in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, which will write a new chapter in the development of both states," the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister added.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said that both the states would benefit from the river linking project, which would also strengthen the relations between the states.
He further said that efforts will be made to build a corridor fromKhatu Shyam temple in Rajasthan toMahakal Shiv temple in Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh."This will increase the number of tourists and devotees in the two states," the Chief Minister said.
