Angela Sarafyan Joins Prime Video’s ‘El Gato’

EXCLUSIVE: Angela Sarafyan (Westworld) is set to recur in the Prime Video series El Gato.
Based on the comic series El Gato Negro by Richard Dominguez, El Gato follows Frank Guerrero (Diego Boneta), who returns home to Mexico after the death of his father and finds himself neck-deep in a nest of vipers – his estranged family – who are vying for control of his father’s business empire. But Frank’s grief is interrupted when he learns his only inheritance, a seemingly worthless parcel of land on the border, sits atop the lair of a famous costumed vigilante — his father, “El Gato.”

Now, Frank is in the crosshairs. To survive, he’ll have to solve mysteries decades in the making and unravel the truth about his father’s connections to a modern-day terror plot.
Sarafyan will portray Elisa Kazanjian, a stoic CIA agent who, 10 years ago, was involved in a terrible massacre while serving in the military in Afghanistan. The traumatic event left her cold and emotionless, but no less capable. Presently she’s serving in Mexico City with the “Company” on a mission to unravel the criminal past of a billionaire agricultural titan Gabriel Guerrero.
In addition to Boneta and Sarafyan, Lorenza Izzo, Sarah Jones, Adriana Barraza, Eric Lange and Alfonso Dosal.
Eric Carrasco created the series and will co-showrun with Turi Meyer and Alfredo Septién. In addition to Carrasco, the series is executive produced by Boneta, Meyer, Septién, Steve Stark of Toluca Pictures, Andrew Mittman of 1.21 and Carla Gonzalez Vargas; and co-executive produced by Kai Dolbashian, Marilu G. Carranza and Joel Novoa-Schneider. El Gato is being produced by MGM Television, a division of Amazon MGM Studios.
Sarafyan is widely known for her series regular role as Clementine on HBO’s Emmy Award-winning drama Westworld. She recently wrapped filming on Patricia Riggens’ G20, where she appears opposite Viola Davis. She also filmed the lead role in Jose Eduardo Belmonte’s upcoming film Quase Deserto. She is represented by Innovative Artists.
