Shohei Ohtani continues to leave his teammates in awe. On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers secured a 4-3 comeback win over the Chicago White Sox, and Ohtani was once again at the center of the action.
Ohtani launched a leadoff home run, extending his RBI streak to nine games. This achievement matched a franchise record last set by Roy Campanella in 1955. His second RBI of the game came in the fourth inning, driving in Gavin Lux and advancing Miguel Vargas.
June has been a standout month for Ohtani. Over 23 games, he boasts a .310 batting average, a .425 on-base percentage, and a .736 slugging percentage. He has hit 11 home runs, driven in 23 runs, and drawn 17 walks, while striking out 20 times. During his 10-game RBI streak, he has been even more impressive, hitting .444 with eight home runs and 17 RBIs.
“I don't know what more we can really say about him,” Freddie Freeman said of Ohtani. “I think we've said everything we can since he's entered this league about what an amazing player he is. … Sometimes, you’ve just got to step back and just appreciate a player like this.”
“Regardless of the RBI streak, I think it's really about the team creating the opportunities to be able to drive in the run,” said Ohtani.
