AmaZulu close to sealing deal for Mamelodi Sundowns defender

The left-back made the switch to Usuthu six months ago in search of regular game time under coach Pablo Martin.
According to information gathered by the public broadcaster, Ngobeni will undergo an assessment in KwaZulu-Natal ahead of the deal being concluded prior to the 2024/25 season, which will soon get underway.
Ngobeni joined Sundowns from the now-defunct Bloemfontein Celtic at the time the club was selling their topflight status to Royal AM in 2021, but was sent on loan to crosstown rivals SuperSport United, before returning to feature in a handful of matches under coach Rulani Mokwena at Chloorkop.

It was in January that the 27-year-old then agreed to join Usuthu, where he has since impressed, and it’s believed he will now sign a long-term deal with the Durban-based outfit.
Ngobeni did struggle for matches last season, making just four appearances in the second half of the campaign – so the decision to take him on permanently is somewhat surprising.
Meanwhile, SABC Sport has also established that Thembela Sikhakhane is expected to leave AmaZulu and join a long list of players who’ve already bid the club farewell – including defender Veluyeke Zulu, midfielder George Maluleka and striker Augustine Kwem.
Usuthu confirmed on Friday afternoon that another forward in Victor Letsoalo would also be leaving after two years in Durban, with TS Galaxy understood to be his next destination.
