"CBS Mornings" co-host Nate Burleson celebrates son's college journey
Special celebration with my family. You may know that I am a father of three. This past weekend we all got together to honor my son Nehemiah, who is heading off to college. I know you're going to graduate top of your class. If you want to be in the NFL, you can do that. But. It's all bonus for me. I'm already proud of you. I love you deeply. My kids, my wife, my family is the best thing that ever happened to me. So you don't ever have to feel pressure to make me proud. You did that already. I love you man. Congratulations on your great choice. So it sounded like I was underwater, but those were tears. I was overwhelmed with emotion. I knew I was going to cry because, you know, I love that guy. I know that's, that's my, my baby son. And he is 18 headed off to college. And I'll just say this, you know, we hear from older parents all the time. They say time flies, enjoy every moment. It really does. So show up for your kids, show up to everything, recitals, AU games. And they're not tedious tasks. Like, try, if you can, to enjoy every little moment because I will not have those moments again. Yeah. He's 18. I have another one who's 20. They're both in college. Everything that we did up until the point of them leaving, I will never have those moments. I know. But Nate, this is a thing. If kids don't think you care, they don't care what you think. And I know your kids know that you care. You and Latoya both. This is one thing that I like about both of you, actually, in terms of what your family units mean to them. Because we have this lights, camera, action, lives. It's great. At the end of the day, nothing matters more than that family. Nothing. Right, So you all took him off to school? Yeah, took him off to school. And he. He's good to go. You know, the house is a lot emptier now. Yeah. It's my wife, myself, and of course, my baby girl, Mia. Four years. I'll be giving that speech again. And there we are. His room in his apartment. He's staying with his brother and a few other teammates, but he's good to go. He's locked in academically and athletically. The next four years or so are going to be great. And we'll be there cheering tomorrow. You guys done good. Beautiful thing. Yeah. We joke all the time about peace and quiet, but I I like the noise. Yeah, you're right about that. Tony, I'm going to miss.
