Mexico murders: Perth man Callum Robinson’s partner reveals heartbreaking details about life after his death
The grieving girlfriend of one of the Perth brothers murdered in Mexico has opened up for the first time about her deep pain in a heart-wrenching post to Instagram.
Emily Livia, the American partner of Callum Robinson, took to Instagram on Friday to share the emotional update, saying she will “never understand a world without Callum” and that she will carry her “grief for a lifetime”.
Callum, 33, his brother Jake, 30, and their American friend Jack Carter Rhoad, 30, lost their lives when they were shot dead during a botched carjacking while they were on a surfing trip in Baja California in April.

The tragic news made headlines across the globe.
“Callum changed my life. He showed me what true love was; love we had for each other, love for life, love for your people and your passions,” she wrote in the heartfelt post.
“He healed parts of me that he didn’t break. I feel grateful to have experienced that in my lifetime.”
Livia explained how Callum serendipitously came into her life one night in 2022 when they were both on dates with other people.
They locked eyes for the first time when he asked if her chair was free to take.
“When I turned around and locked eyes with Cal we both instantly said ‘wait, I know you!’... and that was it.”
The pair often spoke about how their relationship aligned with the red string theory, an ancient Chinese proverb that says an invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place or circumstance.

“This magical cord may stretch or tangle, but never break. You might cross paths many times in life but only meet when you are aligned,” she wrote.
“Callum moved from Australia to play lacrosse in Maryland, while I grew up in the same area.
“We frequented the same bars, socialising in the same group of friends, obnoxious Ravens fans attending many games at M&T Bank, both moving to California and eventually settling in San Diego.
“There were many times we should have met but fate decided we were ready to be in each other’s lives on December 15th 2022 in a dark bar in Pacific Beach, San Diego.”
Livia spoke of Callum’s passion and determination to leave a positive imprint on this world.
She explained how sometimes he would write down an acquaintance’s name on his notes app and how they met so that the next time he saw them, he could call them by name and recite a detail to make the interaction more personal.
He would also encourage and coach young athletes to follow their dreams, and as a sufferer of Type 1 Diabetes, he inspired others to lead a life without limitations.
Livia then spoke about her relationship with the other murder victims, Jake and Carter.
“One thing I’ll remember most was Jake’s laugh,” she said.
“While Callum and Jake had different personalities, they both shared the same love for adventure and life.

“Debra and Martin raised two of the greatest humans I’ve ever had a pleasure of knowing and I feel incredibly grateful to now have them in my life.”

“Carter was kind, funny, full of life with an infectious energy,” she said.
Livia explained her grief is “heavy and drowning” because the love she had for Callum was so immense.
“I feel grateful to have loved him. Although he is no longer in the physical world, I can still feel our red string connected,” she said.
“We will always find each other. Whether it be through a song, the ocean waves, a beautiful sunset or all the signs he’s been leaving me since he passed to let me know he’s still with me and always will be.
“Our relationship was the most magical connection I’ve ever experienced. And that’s how I would describe Callum, he was magic.”
