Coleen Rooney praises 'great' husband Wayne as he leaves BBC Euro coverage early
Coleen Rooney has opened up about Wayne's coverage of the Euro 2024 coverage.
It comes after the Everton and Manchester United legend left Germany in order to start his new job as the Plymouth Argyle boss. Wayne, 38, had initially planned to spend the entire tournament out in Germany as a pundit for the BBC. However, after confirming his new role, he made a swift exit to start the pre-season preparations. Plymouth are set to play Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on August 11.
In a rare admission, Coleen, also 38, spoke to the Mirror about his recent work and admitted she and the family had been tuning in to see him on TV. But although she loved seeing Wayne on screens, the Liverpudlian admitted she was glad for a change of scenery.
Speaking at The Sedulo Foundation celebrity gala in Manchester on Thursday, she said: "It's nice to have a break away from the football for the night and enjoy a night with my friends. The kids are obsessed with the Euros and we've all been watching Wayne while he's been on the TV in Germany. He's done great! We're all rooting for England of course!"

Speaking about the foundation, Coleen added: "It is lovely to have been invited to this event and I'm very grateful. The Sedulo Foundation is doing fantastic work to help disadvantaged young kids around the country and I have heard all about the work they've done to help girls especially who have been affected by poverty. It is good to be here to show my support."
Speaking on the Football Daily podcast, Plymouth Argle's new gaffer said: "Yeah, it's been OK. Obviously, it's different and new to what I've been used to. I've done TV in the past but [I've] spent quite a bit of time here, so yeah it's been a bit different but I've enjoyed it," adding, "Unfortunately, I haven't had any of the England games to talk about really and the games I've done haven't been the greatest but it's nice to spend some time here. I fly home tomorrow."
Coleen was chatting to Mirror at Hilton Deansgate in Manchester, where the iconic WAG was rubbing shoulders with Coronation Street stars and the new celebrity couple Claire Sweeney and Ricky Hatton at the star-studded Sedulo Foundation Colour Ball gala. The Colour Ball, hosted by Sally Lindsay at The Hilton in Deansgate, featured musical performances from big names such as Emeli Sande, Dane Bowers, and Damage, along with Ben Ofeudu, Angie Brown, and DJ Andres Martinez.
Corrie stars Tina O'Brien, Anthony Cotton, Seema Malhotra, Kelvin Fletcher, Helen Skelton and Andy Whyment were all snapped on the red carpet in Manchester, alongside new lovebirds Claire Sweeney and Ricky Hatton, who cosied up for photos at the event. Ricky Tomlinson, Sue Johnston, and boxing champ Josh Warrington were also present.
The annual bash, put together by financial advisory firm Sedulo, raised a whopping £125,000 in 2023. With offices in Manchester, Liverpool, London, Leeds and Birmingham, Sedulo's Foundation aims to support disadvantaged youngsters in the North West. Since its launch in 2022, the Sedulo Foundation—the charitable branch of Sedulo—has helped over 25,000 young people by supplying school essentials, sanitary products, and Christmas gifts to underprivileged children. Sedulo founder Paul Cheetham-Karcz kicked off the initiative.
