Early Friday morning, a portion of the roof at Delhi airport's Terminal 1 collapsed due to heavy rain, injuring at least six people. The incident, reported around 5:30 AM, resulted in significant damage to vehicles, including cabs, parked in the pick-up and drop-off area. The roof sheet and support beams fell, trapping and damaging several cars. A man was rescued from a car struck by an iron beam, and all injured individuals have been taken to the hospital. Search operations are ongoing to ensure no one else is trapped in the damaged vehicles. Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu is personally monitoring the situation. He tweeted, "First responders are working at the site. Also advised the airlines to assist all affected passengers at T1. The injured have been evacuated to hospital. Rescue operations are still ongoing." The heavy rain in Delhi, which brought some relief from the scorching heat, also caused waterlogging and traffic snarls across the city. Visuals showed flooded roads and submerged cars, including one at Minto Road. On Thursday, Delhi recorded a drop in temperature to 35.4 degrees Celsius, with 5.2 mm of rainfall throughout the day.
