Rabiya Mateo falls victim to suspected investment scam

Rabiya Mateo has fallen victim to what she suspects to be an investment scam.

In Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras," Wednesday, the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 said an acquaintance invited her to invest her money.

While it was good at first, things suddenly changed and now the Sparkle actress has not yet gotten back a considerable sum of her investment.

"It's been like two years na OK naman 'yung investment, bumabalik naman siya. However, bigla nalang naputol," she said.

"So ako naman, kailangan natin ipagpatuloy 'yung buhay. Masakit man, but there's still a lot of means for me to get my money back," she added. "So I'm still hoping and praying na sana, sana mabalik."

Despite what happened, Rabiya is not shying away from investing her money. She has invested on a jewelry business and is also planning to dabble into real estate.

However, she is taking the experience as a lesson for her and for others in handling hard-earned money.

"We really need to be smart with our money kasi alam naman natin 'yung showbiz may on-season may off-season. So technically during my off-season, I need to do something meaningful pa rin," she said.

Rabiya is one of the hosts of "TikToClock," which airs weekdays 11:00 a.m. She also has a special role in upcoming Kapuso series "Pulang Araw," which stars Barbie Forteza, Sanya Lopez, David Licauco, and Alden Richards, with Dennis Trillo.

"Pulang Araw" will premiere on Netflix on July 26 and will start airing on GMA Prime on July 29.
