Daisy Edgar-Jones teases if she will reunite with Paul Mescal for Normal People series two after the pair sparked a fan frenzy with cryptic post

Daisy Edgar-Jones has spoken out on the possibility of a second series of her hit drama Normal People.
Daisy shot to fame in 2020 over just 12 episodes when the BBC Three adaptation of Sally Rooney's novel hit screens.

Playing opposite Paul Mescal, Normal People followed Daisy's character Marianne Sheridan and Paul's character Connell Waldron in secondary school and their relationship through their college years.

But Daisy has now admitted that that is where the story ends.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actess was asked about the possibility of a follow-up series, but she responded: 'No there is no season two that I know of!'

If it was up to Daisy though, she would revisit Marianne and Connell, gushing: 'It was really special, I love those characters and that world, I would love to revisit where they are ten years later. '

In May, the pair were forced to apologise to fans after getting their hopes up about a second series of Normal People.

Many fans of the BBC show assumed a second series was imminent after Paul and Daisy both said that they had 'news to share' when they posted a selfie to social media.

The news was later revealed though to be that Daisy and Paul would host a marathon screening of Normal People's first series in order to raise funds for Unicef and suicide prevention charity Pieta.

In a joint video on Instagram Paul said: 'Hello, The news is, and we are incredibly sorry if we led people on, it's not a season two.'

While mischievous Daisy added: 'Not yet! There's still time; keep the faith!'

She continued: 'We are hosting a charity raffle for the chance to win tickets to see a marathon screening of all 12 episodes of Normal People on the big screen in a central London cinema on the 16th of June.'

Paul then chipped in:  'We are going to be there, lots of our friends from the show are going to be there, and creatives who helped build the show also.'

Daisy explained how the proceeds would help 'amazing' charity pieta who help families and individuals effects by suicide and self harm, similar to those in the series.

Before going on to say:  'Also, a portion of the proceeds are going to go towards Unicef, who are doing amazing work helping aid children globally who are displaced by conflict'.

Paul concluded: 'But seriously, we are incredibly grateful for your support in advance. We're really proud to be involved with these charities, and we're incredibly proud of the show. So the more of you that are there, the merrier.'

Later in 2024, Daisy will appear in American disaster film Twisters, and it will be her fourth feature film.

Paul, 28, meanwhile, will appear in Gladiator II, and is currently filming American coming-of-age musical-comedy Merrily We Roll Along.
