Australia’s biggest cheese festival returns to Melbourne
Say Cheese Mold Festival is back for another year. There's a lot to be had. It's so good. It's a wonderful amount of cheese that you can never have too much. Too many beautiful cheeses to choose from and they're all Australian. About 5 1/2 thousand people flocked to the cheesy celebration in Melbourne this weekend and it was bigger and funkier than ever. We have over 100 different cheeses on tasting here from about 25 different producers, so we've got it all, whether you're crazy for cheddar or feeling a bit blue. There was plenty to make cheese lovers melt. We made sure that we like got some hard cheeses and some soft cheeses and some smelly ones. Gonna try out to different ones. The marathon, not a race. This is my favorite taste. Last year, punters took home more than 8 1/2 tons of cheese. And the market for local products is only maturing. Today's been unbelievable, and last night lost two. We sold out of two of our varieties last night, and we've already sold out of one of the other varieties today. Barry Charlton has been making award-winning cheese in Gippsland for almost 50 years. Getting high quality milk to start with. Flippy going, That's, that's good. The secret to it? While some local dairy producers are a bit newer to the daily rind, we're seeing a lot of imports of cheap cheese coming into Australia and we're really firm about no, let's actually support our Australian made and orange cheese brands. And for those still hungry, there were also plenty of tipples and nibbles to make the perfect spread. Huge, huge platter tonight. Nice glass of wine or a reason to go with it? Yeah, and then skip dinner. Mold Cheese Festival heads to Sydney, then Perth later this year.
