We could all probably be doing a little more to help improve our gut health and aid healthy digestion, but how do you know where to start? It might seem complicated, but there's actually one natural ingredient that is touted for having a number of health benefits, including aiding digestion - ginger.

Ginger has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that mean it could be effective against nausea and chronic indigestion, as well as potentially helping to lower blood sugar, reduce menstrual pain, and lower cholesterol.

You can add more ginger to your diet by putting it in your food, but many people opt for a different approach - mixing it with lemon juice and making it into a drink. The zesty and refreshing beverage is a great way to kickstart your mornings and get you ready to face the day, and you can make it in seconds with just a little bit of prep.

In a video shared on TikTok, a woman named Olivia (@revolveprimalhealth) explained how she makes lemon and ginger shots ahead of time and freezes them in cubes to make her mornings easier.

All you have to do is peel two "large knobs" of ginger, cut them into rough chunks, and add them to a blender along with the juice of six lemons. Whizz the mixture in the blender until it becomes a smooth puree consistency, and then pour it into an ice cube tray.

Olivia said she gets "about 15 small cubes" out of her recipe, but you may get more or less depending on the size of your ice cube tray. Once your tray is full, simply stick it in the freezer and wait for it to freeze.

The next morning (or in a few hours if you're impatient) you can then pop one cube into a cup of warm water for a refreshing and healthy drink that only takes you seconds to make.
